At Limestone Coast Ability (LCA), our Day Options Program is designed to empower individuals with disabilities through a person-centered approach, tailored to each participant’s unique needs and goals. As a registered provider, LCA is committed to delivering high-quality services that foster independence, build friendships, and enhance the overall well-being of our clients.

Our mission at LCA is to build capacity and independence for every participant. This mission is supported by our team of trained and dedicated staff who continuously engage in ongoing training to ensure they provide the highest standard of care and support. Our staff’s expertise and commitment are key to helping participants develop the skills they need to lead fulfilling and independent lives.

The Day Options Program offers a diverse range of activities that not only develop essential life skills but also provide significant benefits to participants’ mental and physical health. Learning activities focused on community safety, in-home safety, and personal well-being are crucial for maintaining independence and confidence, ensuring that participants are equipped with the knowledge to navigate their daily lives safely and effectively.

In addition to these foundational learning experiences, we provide a variety of hands-on activities, each with its own unique benefits:

  • Cooking: Develops practical life skills, enhances fine motor skills, and boosts self-confidence as participants create and enjoy their own meals.
  • Woodwork: Encourages creativity and problem-solving while promoting focus, patience, and a sense of accomplishment.
  • Craft and Sewing: Enhances fine motor skills and creativity, providing therapeutic benefits by reducing stress and promoting relaxation.
  • Sports and Games: Regular physical activity improves physical health, coordination, and teamwork while boosting mood and mental well-being.
  • Gardening connects participants with nature, reduces stress, and promotes physical activity while teaching responsibility and patience.
  • Pet Therapy: Offers emotional support, reduces anxiety, and fosters a sense of companionship and empathy
  • Music: Stimulates cognitive function, enhances mood, and provides a creative outlet for self-expression.
  • Drama: Builds confidence, communication skills, and emotional expression while fostering creativity and teamwork.
  • 3D Printing: Introduces participants to technology and design, encouraging problem-solving and innovation.
  • Computers: Enhances digital literacy, promotes problem-solving skills, and opens up new avenues for communication and learning

These are just a few examples of what our program offers; we continually explore and introduce new activities to keep the experience engaging, educational, and fun.

Regular community outings further enrich the program, allowing participants to apply their skills in real-world settings, stay connected with the broader community, and build social confidence.

Our Day Options Program is open to individuals aged 18 and above, offering a supportive environment where participants can develop their autonomy while also learning to work effectively in a team. Set on LCA’s beautiful 3-acre, disability-modified property, Roseville, the program provides a safe and nurturing space where clients can thrive.

By participating in our Day Options Program, individuals gain valuable life skills, improve their mental and physical health, and build lasting friendships. The program embodies LCA’s commitment to fostering independence and personal growth, ensuring that each participant enjoys a fulfilling and enriched life within a supportive and engaging environment.

Art and craft sessions are another great activity at Day Options. Our art studio provides a creative and inclusive environment for individuals to explore their artistic talents and express themselves through various mediums. These sessions encourage self-expression, boost self-esteem, and foster a sense of accomplishment.

At Limestone Coast Ability, we understand the therapeutic benefits of pets. Our pet therapy program allows participants to interact with animals, including birds, chickens, ducks, sheep, Guinea pigs, and bunnies. Spending time with these animals helps reduce stress, increase social interactions, and promote a sense of companionship.

Woodworking is a hands-on activity that allows individuals to develop practical skills and create beautiful items. Our large work shed provides a safe and supportive space for participants to learn woodworking techniques and complete projects that they can be proud of.

We believe in the importance of community engagement, which is why we organise regular community activities. Participants have the opportunity to socialise, participate in local events, and give back to their community. These activities help build social connections and enhance their sense of belonging.

Photography sessions provide an avenue for individuals to explore their creativity through a visual medium. Participants learn basic photography techniques, capture captivating images, and showcase their unique perspectives. This activity encourages self-expression and boosts confidence.

Drama and performance classes offer individuals the chance to explore their talents on stage. Participants engage in improvisation exercises, storytelling, and staging performances. These sessions promote self-confidence, teamwork, and creativity.

Our gardening program allows individuals to connect with nature and experience the therapeutic benefits of spending time outdoors. Participants have the opportunity to learn how to cultivate plants, maintain the gardens, and enjoy the beauty of nature. Gardening is known to reduce stress, promote relaxation, and improve physical fitness.

Day Options also places importance on sports and health. We offer sports programs tailored to the abilities and interests of our participants. These activities not only promote physical fitness but also boost self-confidence, improve coordination, and encourage team spirit.

Music sessions provide a platform for individuals to explore their musical talents. Participants can learn to play musical instruments, sing, and engage in music therapy sessions. Music has been shown to enhance mood, improve cognitive skills, and promote self-expression.
