Life Skills Focused on Independence and Personal Growth
During the Group Getaways, participants will work on developing essential life skills that support their independence and help them meet their NDIS goals. These skills include, but are not limited to:
- Personal Care and Hygiene: Learning and practicing self-care routines to maintain hygiene and health.
- Cooking and Meal Preparation: Participants will be involved in meal planning and preparation, focusing on nutritious and balanced meals.
- Budgeting and Financial Skills: Developing skills to manage personal finances, including budgeting, understanding financial transactions, and making responsible decisions with money.
- Self-Care and Emotional Management: Practicing strategies for managing new situations, dealing with stress, and understanding emotions in a supportive environment.
- Communication and Social Skills: Building better communication skills and fostering social connections with peers, helping participants become more confident in social situations.
- Transport Training: Learning to use public transport (buses, trains, etc.), a vital step toward increased independence and mobility.
- Increased Self-Esteem: Through problem-solving, decision-making, and teamwork exercises, participants gain self-confidence and learn to navigate new challenges.
These skills are not only essential for maintaining independence but also support personal growth, improved social interactions, and greater confidence in daily life.
